Routine ACS Net Procedure

At 1855 hours - 5 Minutes before the Net:

"This is <your call>. An Emergency Services net will be conducted on this frequency in five minutes. The cooperation of all amateurs for the duration of this net to commence at 1900 hours will be greatly appreciated. This is <your call>".

At 1900 hours - Opening the Net:

"This is <your name>, <your call>, Net Controller for this evening's Burbank Emergency Amateur Radio Service NET. The repeater will be returned to normal service following the conclusion of this net in approximately 15 minutes. The cooperation of all non-participating amateurs during this period will be greatly appreciated. The NET is being conducted on 446.86 MHz with minus offset and a PL of 123.0Hz. Before we begin, is there any emergency traffic?" (pause 5 seconds)

  1. Read the weekly DCS messages. (unkey for 5 seconds between each message)
  2. Read the weekly BEARS messages. (unkey for 5 seconds between each message)
  3. "Are there any questions regarding the messages? This is <your call>".
  4. "Roll Call of regular members follows. Regular members are those who have checked into at least one of the last 3 nets."(unkey)
    "When responding, please report the number of hours you've spent on DCS/BEARS related activities since your last report - this includes working on your station and one hour for this evening's net."
    Read the callsign of members who have checked into at least 1 of the last 3 nets (with *). Wait no more than 3 seconds for a response before going onto the next member. Following a response, respond appropriately and call the next member in the same transmission.
  5. "This is <your call>. I'll now take any member, late or guest checkins".
  6. "Are there any more member or guest checkins?"
  7. "Are there any questions or announcements before I close the NET?"

Closing the Net:

"This concludes the regularly scheduled BEARS Net".
<Any other thanks or special recognition>
"Please switch to 145.540 MHz Simplex to participate in the Crescenta Valley DCS Net at 1930 hrs."
"This is <your name>, <your call> returning the repeater to normal use. Thanks and good evening!"

For the Net check-in, the operator my use either the updatable, Excel version or the viewable-only HTML version of the NET Check-in Roster. After completing the Net, please e-mail the list of members that checked in and number of hours each, plus the total number of hours and members that checked in, to these two addresses:KG6FXS & W6RJP.

Participation in the Crescenta Valley DCS Net:

The Crescenta Valley DCS Net is conducted on 145.540 Simplex at 1930 Hours.
They will role call for District 12 members and then District 12 Stations. When they call "Station 12A Burbank", you may identify as Station 12A, and then report the total number of operators and number of hours to the CVS Net Control Operator.
