the Sheriff's Department.  Larry's retirement luncheon 
is March 20th, 2008 at 1130 hours at the Candlewood

Tickets are $25.00 each and can be purchased by sending 
a check payable to: Larry Bryant Retirement Fund to 
Sgt Jeff Jablonsky at EOB.  For further information

BEARS MESSAGES FOR 03/10/08:

 
PLEASE NOTE: THE CDV FLYER HAD INCORRECT INFORMATION
RE: the March 12 BEARS meeting...

The actual topic is a mobile radio coverage drill -- 
we will be sending members out in their vehicles and 
determining reliable communications coverage for BEARS 
repeater, BEARS simplex tactical frequencies, plus 
D-Net and B-Tac 10 along with other communications 
modes. 

Please bring your charged HT, maps (and warm 
jacket just in case!!).  Meet at the Burbank EOC at 
7pm on Wednesday, March 12.

2. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing 
of Harvey Hetland N6MM.  He was an active ham and bicycle 
rider, member of several Pasadena area ham clubs.  
He was a close friend of fellow BEAR Christie Edinger 
K0IU.  She wishes to share that the funeral will be on 
Thursday March 13 @ 11am at Westminster Presbyterian 
Church, 1757 N. Lake St., Pasadena.

3. Gene Roske AE6GR is asking for additional operators 
to assist in doing the Monday night nets.  If you are 
available, contact Gene at AE6GR@ARRL.net or 
818 388-5643.  We also need more BEARS members to 
volunteer for the Monday night BEARS nets.

4. THE SEMI-ANNUAL DCS MEETING will be at 1930 hrs on 
Monday, March 17, 2008 @ the Burbank Fire Training 
Center/EOC.  The BEARS are the hosts for this event.  
If you are coming, please wear your complete BEARS/CDV 
uniform (polo shirt, dark blue/black pants). 
We wish to thank fellow BEAR Tim Lamb W6TRL for 
generously donating goodies from Trader Joes for the 
annual DCS meeting and BEARS meeting.

Please remember that you must wear your CDV ID card at 
all times at the EOC.

Rick & Wanda Penner have volunteered to handle the 
‘talk-in’ nets on DCS 145.30 R and BEARS 446.86 R 
for annual meeting night.

5. Additional volunteers are needed to assist setting 
up chairs for the Annual DCS meeting on Monday, 
March 17.  Set up time at 5pm.  We wish to congratulate 
LASD Sgt. Randy Sulstrom on his recent retirement!  
He was the Volunteer/DCS coordinator at Crescenta 
Valley Sheriff Station.  We’re gonna miss you!!  We also 
welcome his replacement Sgt. Kenneth Binkley!  
Welcome aboard!

handling CDV/BEARS/Arson Watch uniform items.

ordered for pick-up at BEARS and CDV meetings.
