The Quarterly Hours report for 2008 has now been completed. For the year
2008 DCS had a total of 90,558 hours that were donated to Los Angeles
County. Thank you to everyone who participated in our events and all who

At the Quarterly Training Day, scheduled for 02.28.09, there will be a training
session for ALL DCOs. The new DCO SOP will be introduced, reviewed and
discussed. The purpose of this session is to ensure all DCOs are aware
what is required of them and all districts are operated in the same manner.
This session is MANDATORY for ALL DCOs, no substitutions allowed.
This training session is for DCOs ONLY and only DCOs will be allowed to
attend the session. Please send an email to staff12@lacdcs.com if you
cannot attend the meeting.

training. As the DCS Executive Staff has told us, this requirement cannot
be waived. Those who do not complete all four required classes will not be
members of DCS in 2009.

Gene at 818-388-5643 to make other arrangements.

January 21 CDV meeting topic is Communications. BEARS are the
instructors for this meeting. Plan to participate and assist training
your fellow CDV members about radio communications. Topics will include
the difference between amateur radio, CB, business and public safety radio.

that they recommend for additional training and for the pending new
"Intermediate" and "Advanced" CDV membership levels:

Consider taking some of these online courses during the holiday season.

While we had no recent fires in the Burbank area, due to possible rains
we may need to consider Storm Watch patrols. Please be available in case
you are needed for Arson Watch/Storm Watch Patrols. Contact Eric K6EJC

It was more than a month ago that we participated in the Golden
Guardian/Great Shakeout Earthquake drill. Over the holidays you were
asked to think about the experiences you participated in. We plan to talk
about them during our upcoming meetings in 2009. We learn from our
training and experiences.

CDV/BEARS uniform supplier. They are located at 2543 W. 6th St., in

CDV/BEARS items.

Eric K6EJC and Joe Dunn KF6MHL have been working hard on the PSJMC
Providence St. Joseph Medical Center mobile command post vehicle.
We still need assistance installing the HF antenna. If you are able to assist,
contact Eric K6EJC at (818) 599-6883 or Joe KF6MHL at (818) 846-3069.
When the trailer is completed, we plan to have a training session for
BEARS members interested in operating it during a disaster or other
activation. The trailer features 2m/440, 220, HF/6meter, D-Net, plus
PSJMC hospital radios. We will also have our own flatscreen TV and
lap top computer.
