The DCS calendar has stated that there is a DCO meeting on March 16th.
That meeting has been cancelled. The Countywide Monday Net will not
be run but the individual district nets will be up to each district.

The Exec. Staff has approved the following promotions: would like to
congratulate the following members for stepping up and taking a more
active role in DCS.
Mike Farrell, from District 12, has accepted the position of M001.
Jim Glancy, from District 13, has accepted the position of N001.
Frank Myllo has accepted the Exec. Staff position of Membership Office,
Staff 20.
We look forward to working with all of you and all you will bring to your new
positions. Congratulations to everyone and thank you for stepping up and
taking on the added responsibility.

Lost Hills will host the Semi-Annual Meeting on March 30th. The meeting
will be held at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040
Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas at 1900 hours. This meeting is open to all
members, their families and friends, anyone interested in our organization,
and past members. This is a time to learn about the direction of our
organization, upcoming events, ask questions, awards/certificates, and
meet your fellow members. We look forward to this event and hope
everyone can attend.

Baker to Vegas: Hours for this event are very specific and are to be counted
as follows: The time in which you are the control op, net control or involved
in talking on the radio (including answering the radio), along with set-up
and tear-down of equipment, are the only time that can be counted. Please
note that you do not need to count your time on the radio by using a
stopwatch, but instead it is the entire time you are listening to and
answering the radio. Time for traveling to and from the event is NOT allowed.
Reminder: Any members who will be out of town during this event are
required to advise their DCO and/or the next person up on your chain of
command.

((2)) DCS DISTRICT 12 - CRESCENTA VALLEY SHERIFF'S STATION
MESSAGES FOR WEEK OF 03/09/09:
Gene Roske AE6GR has resigned from LA County DCS. Gene will remain
as an active member of San Fernando City RACES, along with his
memberships in BEARS and GEARS.
Mike Farrell KF6FYS has agreed to take over as District 12 DCO; M-001.
Congratulations to Mike! He has worked many years at CVS as M-004.
We are working on re-building the District 12 DCS net at 1930 hrs on
Monday nights. Terry Priesont has volunteered to run tonight’s net.
District 12 DCS members and city members are encouraged to volunteer
to handle Monday night nets from Crescenta Valley Station.

Recently, Joe Dunn and Eric Christensen helped show off the
communications room of the newly finished PSJMC Providence St
Joseph Medical Center mobile command post trailer. Burbank Chamber of
Commerce and Burbank Police Chief Tim Stehr and Police Captain Pat
Lynch came by and gave their compliments. BEARS members will tour
this vehicle during an upcoming BEARS meeting.

Make sure to attend the March 11 BEARS Meeting. Our guest speaker
is from the US Geological Survey and will be speaking on earthquakes and
other shaky topics. This meeting is open to all BEARS and CDV members
and others (visitors). Plan to join us! Don’t forget to come for the April 9
BEARS meeting: San Fernando Valley ARC members and hard core HF
contesters Bill Stein KC6T and Steve Wardlaw KN6Y are going to teach
BEARS members: "Introduction to HF."

Speaking of earthquakes and like things; we have a new earthquake celebrity
ham: Kate Hutton of Cal Tech Seismology has earned her Amateur
Technician license on Saturday and was seen at HRO purchasing her first
hand held radio!!

Thanks again to BEARS members Alex McGregor, Chester Brown,
David Schoch, Manny Rodriguez, Pat Zehr and Eric Christensen who are
helping with the LASD (Los Angeles County Sheriff) CCB/MDR
Community Colleges Bureau and Marina Del Rey running teams at the
Baker to Vegas Run this weekend!

and ‘Advanced’ CDV membership levels.
