Semi Annual Meeting will be held one week from today on March 30th.
Lost Hills will host the Semi-Annual Meeting at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas
Community Center, 27040 Malibu Hills Road, Calabasas at 1900 hours.
This meeting is open to all members, their family and friends, anyone
interested in our organization, and past members.  This is a time to learn
about the direction of our organization, upcoming events, ask questions,
and mingle with your fellow members.  We look forward to seeing everyone.

I would like to the members who assisted with Dep. Zaldavar’s Funeral
Detail on Tuesday March 17th.  It was great to see new people turn out,
which was a good learning experience.  LASD is depending more and
more on DCS for these functions so it is important to continue to have a
good turn out.  Again thanks for the great job!

((2)) DCS DISTRICT 12 - CRESCENTA VALLEY SHERIFF'S STATION
MESSAGES FOR WEEK OF 3/23/09:


We have not received from District 12 for today.  The following messages
are from two weeks ago.

Routine: 2/23/2009, 1032 hours
To: All Members

Gene Roske AE6GR has resigned from LA County DCS.  Gene will remain
as an active member of San Fernando City RACES, along with his
memberships in BEARS and GEARS. 

Mike Farrell KF6FYS has agreed to take over as District 12 DCO; M-001.
Congratulations to Mike! He has worked many years at CVS as M-004.
 
We are working on re-building the District 12 DCS net at 1930 hrs on
Monday nights.  Terry Priesont has volunteered to run tonight’s net.
District 12 DCS members and city members are encouraged to volunteer
to handle Monday night nets from Crescenta Valley Station.

Speaking of earthquakes and like things; we have a new earthquake celebrity
ham: Kate Hutton of Cal Tech Seismology has earned her Amateur
Technician license on Saturday and was seen at HRO purchasing her first
hand held radio!!

Thanks again to BEARS members Alex McGregor, Chester Brown, David
Schoch, Manny Rodriguez, Pat Zehr and Eric Christensen that were
helping with The LASD (Los Angeles County Sheriff) CCB/MDR Community
Colleges Bureau and Marina Del Rey running teams at the Baker to Vegas
Run last weekend!

Important training will be featured at each meeting.  All interested persons
are invited to attend.

CDV Steering Committee has come up with a list of FEMA IS courses that
they recommend for additional training and for the pending new ‘Intermediate’
and ‘Advanced’ CDV membership levels.

IS-317        Introduction to CERT

Advanced Level
IS-240        Leadership & Influence
IS-241        Decision Making & Problem Solving
IS-242        Effective Communications

Other classes and topics are being considered and added to the course list.
Consider taking some of these online courses.  Go to www.fema.gov for more
information or Google search the course number.  Some members have
already completed several of these courses!  Send copies of your FEMA
transcript to CDV Training Officer Erik Day at Erikjday@gmail.com.

DCS renewals are in progress.  If you are planning to renew your DCS
membership, make sure you have completed FEMA Courses IS100, 200,
700, 800.  You also need to have logged atleast 48 hours for 2008.  Check
email from Gene Roske to see if you are eligible for renewal.
