It is now time to review your records for each member to make sure they
are on track for hours for 2009. Each member will need 48 hours in 2009 in
order to retain their membership in 2010. Keep in mind that December is a
slow month in which very little occurs; it is difficult to make up a large
amount of hours at the very end of the year. Please note that once you turn
in your report for hours for 2009 (in January 2010) there can be no further
corrections. Please review your report each quarter to make sure that all
hours are included. If you have any questions, please contact Rick
Norwood, Staff 11.

I would like to thank all who participated in the Marina Del Rey July 4th
Extravaganza. We were short handed, so everyone worked hard. Those of
us at the Command Post were very appreciative of the messages received
from Staff 12 and Y-002 regarding the incident at Mother's Beach, as the
deputies were too busy handling things to let us know what was happening.

We had a fire in our response district this past weekend. Would you have
been prepared if we had been called out to assist? Please take a moment
and review the contents of your “go bag” and make sure it is up to date.
The battery for your radio as well as the spare should be charged to full
capacity. It is fire season and make sure you are ready to go.

We have been asked by the Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles
County Fire Department to participate in a strategic “evacuation drill” on
August 1, 2009. We will provide a major link in this drill with the county.
It is in preparation for fire season and this will test the plans in place should
a fire break out on the foothills of our community. This is a very important
request and everyone should consider this a drill as extremely important
and we need to get all members to participate. As soon as I get more
information I will pass it on to everyone. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE:

As we start the 2nd half of 2009, it is important to review you hours
submitted to DCS for credit. At this point everyone should be tracking at
24 hours as per your commitment to DCS. We have a few members who
are short of that goal. Following is a list of those who are not on track for
hours:
M-074 17 total hours
M-118 0 total hours
M-128 19 total hours
M-179 11 total hours
M-199 14 total hours
Should you have any questions, please contact Mike Farrell,

We are in need for volunteers to assist on the Monday Night Net check-in
at Station12. Everyone needs to be proficient at working in the radio room.
It is very simple and the process will only take 1.5 hours to accomplish.
This very simple way to add hours to your time requirement. You get credit
for 1.5 hours and well as transit time to and from the station. Please contact
Mike Farrell, farrell075@aol.com to set up a time and date for
your participation.
