The Burbank BEARS has years of heritage as an awesome organization,
considered as one of the best. As such, you are part of the best. In January,
we will change our name to Fire Corps ACS, but we are still the same people.
We will continue to be the best. Keep up the great work. I have enjoyed
being the City Radio Officer and head of the BEARS program.
Let us continue this heritage as we move forward into 2010.
I would like to thank Joe Dunn KF6MHL for his time as City Radio Officer
and then Assistant City Radio Officer. When Joe stepped down, he left
awesome shoes to fit. Alex McGregor K9AKM and David Schoch KI6UCK
have stepped in and are doing the job that one man did. Thank you to
all three! I could not do this job without you guys or the rest of the
BEARS organization.
Recently I was asked to accept the job of DEC (District Emergency
Coordinator) of the ARES Northwest Los Angeles district. It was the training
and skills I learned and the leadership I have seen in the BEARS that has
allowed each of us to grow. See you at the ARES meeting on Saturday
January 2 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital and at the FireCorps meetings
on January 13 and 20.
During the quiet season, consider upgrading your ham license or take some
of the FEMA ICS courses or ARRL Emergency Communications courses
available. Education and training benefits all and makes us a better person
and better qualified to handle situations that arise.
In closing, I want to thank the BEARS Planning Team for all their assistance
and guidance. They are the ones that work hard to help plan the activities
and training that make the BEARS what they are. Thanks again to Alex
McGregor K9AKM, David Schoch KI6UCK, Bill Tracy KE6EQJ,
Wanda Penner KG6GTA, Rick Penner W6RJP and especially
Joe Dunn KF6MHL. Thank you to all BEARS members and to those who
also assist with Arson Watch Patrols, most specifically Pat Zehr KI6DIB
and Paul Lukasiak.
Thank you all! 73 Eric K6EJC
Merry Christmas!! I hope Santa brings everyone the HT or mobile
radio that they want!
That's it for this year's messages.
