Last Friday, 04/30/2010, an email was sent out from M-001 and Staff 10
regarding a special event for the Boy Scouts. In this message, it was noted
that a prompt reply was requested. At this time only 4 people have
responded. It is hoped that everyone take these messages as important
for you to read and respond even if you are NOT able to participate.
By not responding, I do not know if the message got through, or you just
don’t care. However, it is your responsibility to reply either yes or no to
the event. As we prepare for the approaching fire season, it is imperative
that replies to special district messages are acknowledged. IF you did not
get the message from either M-001 or Staff 10 for the Boy Scout event,
please contact Mike Farrell through email at farrell075@aol.com.
For those who did not respond, do so ASAP!

It is important to remember our commitment to the county. Each district
is assigned to a Sheriff Patrol Station and has primary responsibility to
support each individual station. This is done also as an organizational
program as well as for record keeping at leadership. It does NOT mean we
do not have a responsibility county-wide if needed. We are an
organization that is responsible to the County of Los Angeles. Some may
think that a request for help in Marina Del Rey should be ignored just
because it is not in the CVS area. During 2009, our District 12 had two
major events take place. First, we had an evacuation drill in which we
assisted LASD and County Fire. For those of you who participated,
you will remember that we had approximately 50% of our team that was
NOT in the CVS station area. Next, we had the Station Fire in our back yard.
We had a good turn out from our district, but again we could not have
been successful completing our mission without the help from other districts.
Please respond to message for assistant even if you can NOT help out.

and the subjects will be announced prior to the date:

The DCS store will be open for shirts, jackets, patches as well as ordering
vests. We had only 2 District 12 members at the training last Saturday.
The rest of you missed one of the best training days I have seen.

The San Gabriel Valley Boy Scout Council has made a request to DCS
asking assistance with communications for their Centennial Jamboree
being held May 21 - 23. The event takes part in Bonelli Park in San Dimas.
This will be an EOB activity.
We will be shadowing event officials plus providing communication links
between the various agencies taking part in the jamboree such as LACo
Fire, LACo Lifeguards, LACo PD, and so on. Set up will start at 1300 on
May 21st and go through 1500 May 23rd. We will need operators at various
times during the following periods:
May 21st 1300 to 2200
May 22nd 0600 to 2200
May 23rd 0600 to 1500
Meals will be provided at no charge. This is an excellent opportunity to
practice what we train for. The event should prove to be a very interesting,
fun and a satisfying experience as well as giving us the opportunity to build
a relationship with the Boy Scouts.
Those interested in helping out please contact me by 05.07.10 and let
me know the date(s) and times you can work.
