members at least ONCE A YEAR be a Net control Operator.

------------------------------------------------

Everyone should check out the BFCP (Burbank Fire Corps Program) website
at www.burbankfirecorps.org; it’s a great resource tool.

------------------------------------------------

Reminder, Tuesday June 8 is Election Day. LA County DCS is responsible
for assisting LA Sheriff Aero Bureau at several airports with accepting
and coordinating logging flights of ballot boxes to the Registrar of Voters
center in Norwalk. Eric Christensen K6EJC will be assisting at
El Monte airport.

------------------------------------------------

Thank you to Eric Christensen K6EJC for assisting DCS at the All Souls
Cemetery memorial service on Memorial Day May 31.

------------------------------------------------

Joe Dunn KF6MHL and Eric Christensen K6EJC have been asked to
assist PSJMC (Providence St. Joseph Medical Center) with their hospital
radio drill on Monday June 14. Other local hospitals are also participating
in similar drills.

------------------------------------------------

Thank you to Wanda Penner KG6GTA and Rick Penner W6RJP for their
years of service to the BEARS/ACS Planning Team. Their efforts are
appreciated and we wish Rick a speedy recovery.

-------------------------------------------------

Rob Powell has agreed to be a mentor to other members in training for
net control operator. ACS is planning Saturday morning mentoring sessions
at the EOC. Contact Alex K9AKM to sign up and help.

------------------------------------------------

This Friday & Saturday, June 11/12 are the annual parking lot sale at
SOS Survival Products, 15705 Strathern St, Van Nuys. Make sure to
restock your go kits!

------------------------------------------------

The topic for next week's ACS meeting will be planning for our upcoming
ACS Comm Day. This event will feature a training day where we (ACS)
will train our fellow Fire Corps members on all things radio
communications. We will also be discussing planning for the 4th of July
event.

------------------------------------------------

All Firecorps members should have a new Firecorps T-Shirt. This replaces
all former CDV and BEARS attire for activations. New Fire Corps polo
shirts should be available in the next few weeks. Additional attire should
be available for purchase soon from our new vendor -- Gall's. Order forms
will be distributed at general Fire Corps meetings.

------------------------------------------------

Amateur Radio Field Day is Saturday June 26 and Sunday June 27.
Hours are 11am Saturday to 11am Sunday. Burbank Fire Corps ACS has
decided not to have our own field day event this year. Popular local venues
include San Fernando Valley ARC at Northridge Hospital parking structure;
ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) at Pierce College; and the
Independent Radio Club (IRC) at Table Mountain near Wrightwood.

------------------------------------------------

Remember that 4th of July, Independence Day at the Starlight Bowl, is
our “Premier” event. Please send an email to the Volunteer Coordinator,
Eric Baumgardner, eric-baumgardner@burbankfirecorps.org and specify
“July 4th” in the subject line. So far, very few have volunteered to help.
Fire Corps & ACS are major participants in this annual event and the
city relies on our assistance.

------------------------------------------------

Everyone should monitor the BFCP ACS repeaters 446.860, now identified
as “ALPHA,” along with N6MQS 448.540 -- now identified as “BRAVO” --
on a daily basis.

------------------------------------------------

If you have not already done so, please contact Kris at Burbank Human
Resources (Administrative Services Bldg, 2nd floor -- across the street
from City Hall) to replace your old CDV ID with new Fire Corps ID. It only
takes about 10 minutes! Her phone is 818 238-5044.

------------------------------------------------

Consider upgrading your ham license. The IRC (Independent Radio Club) is
having general license class and exam on Saturday July 24 and
Sunday July 25 at Eagle Rock City Hall. Go to www.ircradio.org for
more information. ARES has General License (begins June 10) and
Extra upgrade (begins July 1) classes plus a GROL
(General Radio/non-amateur) class (begins August 12) scheduled at
Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys.
Check www.arrllax.org for more info.

------------------------------------------------

Congratulations to Pat Zehr KI6DIB for passing his EMT class final exam!

------------------------------------------------

Don't forget to join us for coffee social at Starbucks next to Bob's Big Boy
on Riverside Drive on Wednesdays and most Mondays. Starts 5.30pm;
if you can’t make it then call in on 446.860.
