This past weekend Eric Christensen K6EJC participated in a hospital
disaster drill sponsored by Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Kaiser Sunset
and Children's Hospital Los Angeles along with Metro Red Line. The scenario
was an incident at the Metro Red Station at Vermont and Sunset.
Approximately 150 plus teen agers assisted as walking wounded victims
as part of the drill.

Eric K6EJC was radio operator at the command post. ARES members also
manned communications posts at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and the
Los Angeles County Medical Alert Center (MAC). This was an awesome
learning experience for all.

helping, contact Gail Farnsworth at 818 409-0866 or via email at

and radios ready. If you are Arson Watch certified, keep ready and
available. Monitor humidity and wind conditions. Be prepared.

If you have not already done so, please contact Kris at Burbank Human
Resources (Administrative Services Bldg, 2nd floor) (across the street from
City Hall) to replace your old CDV ID with new Firecorps ID. It only takes
about 10 minutes! Her phone is 818 238-5044.

((2)) DISTRICT 12 DISASTER COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE (DCS) --
CRESCENTA VALLEY SHERIFF'S STATION MESSAGES

Routine: 07/12/2010, 1100 hours
To: All members
From: Mike Farrell, M-001

1) On July 20, 2010, there will be a District 12 meeting at the station
starting promptly at 1900 hours. This is a very important meeting and
I am requesting that everyone attend. IF YOU CAN NOT ATTEND,
PLASE NOTIFY ME VIA RETURN EMAIL. Class C uniform required.

2) Please pay special attention to the areas highlighted in yellow in the
District messages today.

------------------------------------------------

TO ALL...
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT REQUEST FROM THE LASD FOR OUR
HELP. I WOULD EXPECT SOME OF YOU TO BE AVAILABLE FOR
THIS OUTING. I WILL BE THERE, SO I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR
REPLY WITH A COMMITTMENT FOR SATURDAY.

Subj: DCS - July 17 Basketball game at CSUDH

To: All DCO's
From: Debby Miles, Staff 10

The MDR Basketball event is scheduled for this coming Saturday, July
17th. As stated in this weeks messages, we do not have the requested
number of 25 - 30 for this event. Please push this event with your
members and ask them to step up and help. Since this is the first
annual, we need to 1) show that we can fulfill the request from the
station, 2) prove that we will be there when we are needed, 3) we are a
useful, efficient, and professional group, 4) we have members that are
willing to work events, and 5) that we can get more than 3% of our
membership to work an event. This may not be the "emergency" which
seems to be what everyone waits for, but it is an important event on
many levels, one of which is training and teamwork.

I have said this before and will restate it again, we are a COUNTYWIDE
group and we need to assist all the Districts when needed. Not only do
we have a sad showing for the Basketball event, but MDR needed more
support for the July 4th Fireworks event. This is not a good showing
for support of either LASD or the Districts which need help.

I expect to see in the next 24 hours emails from all the DCO's asking
their members to step up and assist with this event. Your emails must
CC both Staff 10 and 11.

Location: CSU Dominguez Hills
Time: 0900 - 1400 hours
Contact: Nancy Geitgey, Y001
           y001@lacdcs.org
Note: If you have a DCS approved Safety Vest, bring it.
